The news of playstation 5 broke out few weeks ago and the internet has not been able to shut up about it. Even people we know that cannot afford it are talking about it.

Technology is advancing and the new playstation 5 demo is just proof that this might be the biggest advancement in CGI yet. Unreal engine just released a demo video to show the world what to expect in the new playstation 5.

The video is currently trending on YouTube as of May 14th and has more than 5 million views.

Brian Karis, the technical director of graphics, and Jerome Platteaux, the art director of special projects, guide the viewer through 9-minute video, explaining the details of the video as well as technology used to create such a breathtaking experience.

The recently released playstation 5 demo looks pretty realistic and you need to see them

“A few years ago, we got together as a team and brainstormed where we thought we could push forward the state of the art and real-time graphics,” Brian announced at the beginning of the video. They wanted to make advancements in two directions. One of them was global illumination which will make the graphics look less static. This became possible due to a system they created called “Lumen”.

The team was also trying to address the issue of virtualized geometry. “The artists wouldn’t have to be concerned over poly counts, draw calls, or memory. We could directly use film quality assets and bring them straight into the engine.
And that’s a big deal for artists,” they elaborated in the video. For that purpose, they created a system called Nanite.
