4 Unpopular places in Lagos that you can visit after the lockdown

Two weeks into the lockdown and a lot of Nigerians have started listing a whole lot of things they were going to do once the lockdown was over. A very few of them chose location, or stuffs, we have never heard before. The Cool Magazine is all about breaking from the norm – doing what has never been done. So we decided to share with you 4 unpopular places in Lagos that you can visit once the lockdown is over. Enjoy!

JAEKEL MUSEUM (OR HOUSE)

The Jaekel museum is one place in Lagos that many are yet to appreciate, or recognize as a center of attraction. It is a 2-storey colonial mansion located in the historic city of Ebute-Metta. The house was named after the Late Francis Jaekel OBE, a former superintendent at the Nigerian Railway Corporation. A visit to the Jaekel mansion (or museum) is like a time travel into the colonial era and the transition period of this great country. The house serves as a railway museum and a photo gallery (for the historians).

Should you decide to get some of the Lagos air on your skin after the lockdown, we recommend that you visit the Jaekel House because relaxation is incomplete without knowledge.

BOGOBIRI HOUSE

Bogobiri – where food meets arts. It is a special place for the people that love food, arts, or both. The Bogobiri house is an African styled art gallery and restaurant located in Ikoyi, Lagos. It prides in giving its visitors a unique journey into the creative soul of the most vibrant city in West Africa, and Africa too.

Fun fact: The Bogobiri house hosts an open mic show on Thursday nights. So if you are blessed with those Ed Sheeran lyrics or Davido charisma, you should pop into show your talents – Olamide could be around to scout for new Fireboys.

JHALOBIA RECREATION PARK AND GARDENS

You must have seen those neatly planned parks, and beautifully dressed gardens, in most of your favourite Netflix blockbuster movies/series. Ever thought of something of that sort of beauty and magnificence in your homeland? Well, the Jhalobia Recreation Park and Gardens is the perfect replica of whatever you’ve seen in those movies – only that it is way special because it depicts CULTURE AND HISTORY. The JRPG is situated in Ikeja, along the Muritala Mohammed Airport. History has it that it was built in the late 90s by one Mrs. Veronica Adepoju and her two daughters – must have been one hell of a project to create such a beauty. The park is one that is suitable for every thinkable events – from engagements to picnics, and even some alone time with Mother Nature.

GET Arena

Have you seen the movie Go!? No? Then you really should see it because it explains a lot about why this particular relaxation center is one of the most adventurous places in the city of Lagos. The GET Arena is a 16-min drive from the Palms Shopping Mall in Lekki, but very few people know about this amazing go-kart track. If you are a sucker for fast cars and speed racing, with a dash of danger, then the GET Arena is just the right place for you to visit.

Now, you have a list of some other exciting places to visit after the lockdown, make sure to try them out and leave the old ones to retrieve their beauty. LOL!
